Healer's Hut 2024

Happy New Year!! To welcome into the new year we are sharing our origin story.

Do you remember the movie practical magic? Well in that movie Sandra Bullocks Character Sally,  had opened an Apothecary in her small town. I remember watching that scene as a little girl and thinking how amazing it would be to have a shop like that of my own. I was 11 at the time so that dream just got tucked away for another day. Unknowingly this was the first inspiration for Healers Hut.

The second inspiration came while on my learning quest. I came across a podcast called “psychic teachers.”  The hosts are wonderful and give you a sense of familiarity, it’s like sitting down and drinking tea with friends. Offering their insight and experience. The podcast talks about many subjects on spirituality, and they discuss their journey. Again, this was another disguised inspiration.

One night Charles and I were discussing the future, I had mentioned that when we retire and start traveling in our camper, that I wanted to read tarot at the various campsites. Even paint the trailer purple. My husband was all for the idea and said that it would be fun. The more we discussed it I found myself  wanting to open a little witchy shop. When I mentioned the evolution of my dream, He was incredibly supportive of it and encouraged me to start looking into how to get it started. Over time I combined the two passions and slowly the concept behind Healer’s Hut came to together, and over the past 2 years Charles and I have been putting plans in place to open a physical location for Healer’s Hut and discussing how we would like to impact our local and online community.

Why did you pick the name Healer’s hut?

One of the many nights that my husband and I spoke about the shop I had mentioned that I loved how people would go to the town’s healer. The healers contributed by healing those among them. So, when you needed a remedy for a sickness you would go to the village Healer. They were respected  up until the word “healer” became associated with the word “witch.” After that, they became “afraid” of the town’s healer, and they became an outcast.

I felt like the name “healers Hut” fit for the sense of community we would like to build.

Our vision for the healer’s hut is to have a space where you can have a cup of tea, shop for magical supplies, and come in for a reading or healing session with one of our local practitioners.
